Bike Safety

All riders are expected to wear an approved and properly fitted bicycle helmet through out the event.  Ride in single file on the right side of the roadway, staying as close as possible to the shoulder or side of the road.  Pass only on the left and look to be sure it is clear to do so.  Talk to fellow cyclists to let them know about hazardous road conditions.
Obey the same rules that motorists must follow:

  • Stop at stop signs and stop lights;
  • Use hand signals when turning and be sure motorists see you!
  • Ride with, not against traffic

Course Description

All rides will be taking place through out the Haliburton Highlands, as the name implies, they are hilly and can be challenging. All routes will include varying amounts and degrees of hills, as well as flat sections. Travel at your own pace and obey the rules of the road.  Rest stops along the way will provide nutritious snacks and refreshments.

*The 40km route is a “choose your own length” out and back route - if you prefer, you can turn back at the 15km mark and stick with 30km of flat. Or if you’re feeling peppy, you can keep going for another 5km out and 5km back of ups and downs and dipsy-doodles.

Below are the 2010 routes for your viewing.

Note: routes subject to change.
